Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Archaeologist to join our dynamic team in Round Rock, Texas. This role offers the opportunity to lead and support archaeological projects across Texas and neighboring states, conducting Phase I-III fieldwork, lab analysis, and research. The successful candidate will contribute to high-quality archaeological reporting while collaborating with Senior Archaeologists and technical teams to preserve and document historic and prehistoric resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Phase I-III archaeological fieldwork, identifying artifacts and assessing the presence of archaeological sites.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret historic and prehistoric artifacts.
  • Document research methodologies, field findings, and project outcomes.
  • Prepare archaeological reports, site forms, and assist in decision-making regarding project alternatives and preservation strategies.
  • Organize and prepare artifacts and project records for curation.
  • Collaborate with field, lab, and office teams to ensure projects meet professional and company quality standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Meets Secretary of the Interior's Qualification Standards for Archaeologists.
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in archaeology, including at least 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • Regional experience in historic and/or prehistoric archaeology.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Phase I-III fieldwork and supervisory skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to provide a writing sample (thesis, dissertation, or archaeological report).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA).
  • Experience with GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro, Field Maps, or Google Earth.
  • Experience in obtaining a Texas Antiquities Permit.
  • Significant lab and artifact curation experience.
