POSITION OVERVIEW

The Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and financial performance of multiple concurrent electrical construction projects. This role oversees field operations through direct supervision of multiple superintendents, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget. The Project Manager also plays a key role in business development by bidding new work, estimating costs, and ensuring profitable project execution, to include proper billing, change orders and financial tracking.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Project Manager is a critical part of the Operations leadership team and is engaged with multiple, cross-functional projects that have significant financial and operational impact to JTI’s business.

  • Develop appropriate bids or estimates to ensure we win long-term partnerships, meeting JTI margin expectations. This may entail conducting job walks and reviewing and understanding electrical drawings to properly bid a job.
  • Review the overall contractual requirements for all projects and specific process design methodology for individual projects as required
  • Interact with the customer to validate expectations are understood and met before, during and after project completion
  • Drive growth and profitability through effective project execution, ensuring schedule requirements are met for all projects by anticipating needs and adjusting priorities based upon changing customer needs, resource availability, and job requirements.
  • Support and lead business development sales activities and client interface by approaching new and existing facilities and organizations promoting JTI’s expertise and offer our various engineering, design, and construction services.
  • Consistently monitor and evaluate quality, project completion and budget adherence by walking the jobsite, interacting with the customer, and reviewing and inspecting work product and output of JTI employees and subcontractors.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a group of 5-20 total reports.
  • Responsible for work assignments, hiring, promotions and performance appraisals
  • Evaluate and continually improve the systems and processes being used to effectively meet customer requirements and profitability goals.
  • Develop the organization to achieve excellence through continuous improvement; support lesson learned activity and implement identified initiatives.
  • Coordinate with accounting to invoice per project terms and oversee / negotiate appropriate change orders.
  • Monitor job costs, coordinate billing activities and support receivables collection as required.
  • In rare occasions, may have to perform electrical or manual duties to ensure job completion
  • Ensure all projects follow JTI’s best practices in project management.
  • Travel to jobsites as needed; Flexibility with work, changing environment and travel required
  • Attend internal and external training courses which pertain to improving and developing job related business management, leadership, and operational skills.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

In addition to the job responsibilities, a critical part of your role will to be effectively manage a team of individuals to achieve company objectives, by doing the following:

  • Develop and implement departmental strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Report on departmental performance and strategic initiatives to senior management
  • Oversee operations, ensuring tasks are completed on schedule.
  • Manage budgets and allocate resources effectively.
  • Supervise supervisors and team leads, ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Analyze performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide feedback regarding staffing needs and levels
  • Involved in the feedback and decision-making process for selection and hiring process of new team members
  • Involved in the feedback and decision making process resulting in formal disciplinary action (including termination) when necessary
  • Review and approve hours and timecards for direct reports weekly or by deadlines for accuracy
  • Develop employees for career growth and bench strength
  • Monitor individual and team performance, offering constructive feedback.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate development opportunities.
  • Resolve conflicts and address employee concerns promptly.
  • Report on team performance and operational issues to upper management.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Foster a collaborative and positive team environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Project Management experience in electrical services and construction.
  • Understand electrical drawings
  • Electrical field experience coordinating with construction management. Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in Electrical construction services.
  • 8+ years of experience and knowledge of project management, scheduling, bids, take offs, change orders, and contracts.
  • Experience supervising or managing teams
  • Proficient using Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft word, bid and project management software.
  • Must pass a drug/alcohol screen upon offer of employment and subject to safety sensitive drug testing.

Must possess a valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets company insurance requirements.

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Highly organized and skillful at working on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Highly proficient in reading and interpreting all blueprints/plans, construction documents, specifications, and bids, and recommending necessary changes or additions.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Exceptional analytical, motivational, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop relationships and assist in winning projects.
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and possess knowledge of such electrical and controls construction.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and perform complex system tests.
  • Ability to manage compliance issues (OSHA, MSHA, First Aid/CPR, PPE, random drug/alcohol screens, etc.).
  • Ability to read and comprehend requests for bid/quote, work orders, electrical drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to communicate with others at all levels of the organization and to assimilate and understand information in a manner consistent with essential job functions.
  • Ability to professionally communicate with the customer and the public.
  • Knowledge and compliance with company safety and disciplinary programs.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of personnel problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to utilize basic skills of Microsoft Word and Excel.

EQUIPMENT & APPLICATIONS /WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Walking and Standing – Frequently moving around job sites, inspecting work, and overseeing installations.
  • Climbing and Balancing – Occasionally using ladders, scaffolding, or lifts to inspect elevated electrical work.
  • Lifting and Carrying – Lifting materials, plans, or equipment, typically up to 25-50 lbs., though less frequent than field electricians.
  • Crouching and Kneeling – Occasionally working in tight spaces to inspect electrical installations.
  • Repetitive Movements – Engaging in repetitive motions such as writing, typing, or using hand tools for minor adjustments or inspections.
  • Working in Various Positions – Reaching, bending, or holding positions for short durations while reviewing electrical work.
  • Exposure to Weather – Spending time outdoors at construction sites in varying conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or wind.
  • Hand and Finger Dexterity – Handling documents, using computers, and occasionally working with electrical components or tools.
