About the Role

The Chimney Doctor is seeking an experienced Fireplace & Chimney Craftsman Manager to lead complex repair and installation projects in some of the finest homes in the Rocky Mountains.

 

This is not a production-only role. This position provides field leadership, project coordination, and crew oversight across multiple active jobs — including permit-required inspections, subcontractor coordination, and quality control.

 

You’ll work alongside skilled technicians, guide apprentices, and ensure projects move forward safely, efficiently, and to the highest professional standards.

 

What You’ll Do

• Lead fireplace and chimney repair, replacement, and custom installation projects
• Coordinate materials, schedules, crews, and job sequencing
• Oversee permits and inspections required by local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)
• Work directly in the field — inspecting quality, assisting crews, and stepping in as needed
• Train, mentor, and support subordinate staff through regular one-on-one meetings
• Interface professionally with homeowners, subcontractors, suppliers, and inspectors
• Ensure all work meets manufacturer instructions, code requirements, and company standards
• Maintain jobsite safety, cleanliness, and professionalism at all times

 

Schedule & Workload (Important)

This is a leadership role with an open-ended finish time based on project needs .

Typical workload includes:

• Four full production days (10–14 hours as required)
• Partial Fridays for progress verification, inspections, coordination, or planning

Efficiency and experience reduce hours — but this role is not a 9–5 position.

 

What We’re Looking For

Required Experience

• Hands-on background in fireplace, chimney, masonry, or venting systems
• Experience leading crews or managing complex residential projects
• Comfort working at heights, on roofs, and in all weather conditions
• Strong problem-solving skills in real-world field conditions

 

Strongly Preferred

• CSIA and/or F.I.R.E. Certified
• Installation and repair experience across multiple system types
• Familiarity with permit processes and inspection coordination
• Prior exposure to Copperfield Level II inspection training
