Our History:
TBMHC was created by Desmond Yanamayu with people of color in mind, after
realizing this diverse population experienced challenges and struggles that were unique from
many other racial/ethnic groups. Because of this, he wanted to create a space where black people
could feel comfortable getting counseling with someone who understood issues specifically
related to them. Even still, The Black Mental Health Corporations services are open to people
of all ethnicities and racial backgrounds.

1. Executive SummaryThe Licensed Mental Health Therapist provides direct therapeutic services to individuals, couples, families, and groups at TBMHC. This role is responsible for delivering evidence-based, trauma-informed, and culturally affirming care, maintaining accurate documentation, and collaborating with the treatment team to ensure holistic support for clients. Licensed Therapists also play a role in mentoring pre-licensed staff and contributing to program development.

2. Core Responsibilities
A. Direct Clinical Services
- Provide individual, group, couples, and/or family therapy across diverse populations.
- Conduct comprehensive intake assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and treatment planning.
- Deliver interventions using evidence-based, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed approaches.
- Maintain a consistent caseload and meet productivity benchmarks.

B. Documentation & Compliance
- Complete progress notes, treatment plans, assessments, and discharge summaries in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OHMAS, CARF, Medicare, and insurance requirements.
- Participate in internal chart audits and implement corrective actions as needed.

C. Collaboration & Case Management
- Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, case managers, school-based providers, and other care team members.
- Coordinate care with external providers (e.g., primary care, social services, schools) to ensure continuity of care.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and case consultations.

D. Professional Development & Mentorship
- Attend required trainings, staff meetings, and clinical consultations.
- Stay current on best practices, cultural competency frameworks, and clinical interventions.
- Provide mentorship, when applicable, to pre-licensed clinicians or interns.

E. Advocacy & Mission Support
- Advocate for clients mental health, educational, and social needs.
- Support TBMHCs mission of addressing systemic barriers and providing equitable mental health services to Black communities.
- Promote anti-oppressive practices in all clinical and administrative work.

3. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)- Number of client sessions completed and productivity targets met.
- Quality and timeliness of clinical documentation.
- Client outcomes and treatment goal attainment.
- Client satisfaction and feedback surveys.
- Contribution to team collaboration and organizational culture.

4. Reporting Structure- Reports to the Clinical Supervisor and/or Clinical Director.
- Collaborates with the Practice Manager and QA team for operational and compliance support.

5. Required Qualifications- Active, unrestricted license in the state of Ohio, LSW, LPC, and/or LMFT (LISW, IMFT, LPCC, or Psychologist preferred).
- Minimum of 2 years of post-licensure clinical experience (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of trauma-informed care, cultural humility, and evidence-based interventions.
- Experience working with diverse populations, particularly Black individuals, families, and communities.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
