Join a national commercial insurance carrier as an Underwriting Manager / Assistant Vice President, leading the underwriting of Middle Market Property & Casualty programs within the Private Equity industry. You\'ll manage a profitable book of business, build strategic broker relationships, and collaborate with internal partners to drive growth and underwriting excellence across the organization. What You'll Do Underwrite, maintain, and grow a profitable Middle Market Property & Casualty portfolio, including Workers Compensation, General Liability, Auto, and Umbrella/Excess lines. Serve as the underwriting lead for Private Equity P&C business in the West Zone, cultivating key retail broker partnerships. Partner with the Private Equity Industry Practice Leader to identify cross-sell opportunities across business units. Evaluate submissions, analyze exposures, determine pricing, and negotiate program offerings through to binding and post-bind servicing. Monitor portfolio performance and manage metrics to ensure profitability. Drive pipeline development with assigned brokers and craft strategies for target accounts. Maintain strong broker and client relationships through proactive communication, stewardship meetings, and presentations (virtual & in-person). Lead and develop direct reports to achieve underwriting and business goals. Collaborate with internal teams to deliver outstanding service and operational excellence. What You Bring Strong analytical, listening, and problem-solving skills with a consultative approach to client and broker engagement. Excellent communication, presentation, and business writing abilities. Solid knowledge of exposure analysis, risk evaluation, and coverage design. Proven ability to interpret performance metrics and execute profitable growth strategies. Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple submissions efficiently. Independent thinker who works effectively both individually and in a team setting. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. A forward-looking mindset with the ability to influence and innovate. Your Background Minimum 5+ years of commercial underwriting experience, with a focus on Middle Market guaranteed-cost program structures. Industry designations such as CPCU or ARM are preferred.
