About the Company

Wave Specialist – Production Planning (Night Shift) Location: Buford, GA Schedule: Monday–Friday | 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM Pay: ~$22.00/hour + $1.00 shift differential Reports To: Production Planning Manager

About the Role

The Wave Specialist is responsible for planning, releasing, and managing customer order waves to ensure timely and accurate execution within a fast-paced warehouse environment. This role partners closely with Production Planning, Operations, and Warehouse teams to balance workflow, optimize labor and dock activity, and meet customer service commitments. Strong planning experience in a warehouse setting is required; shipping and receiving knowledge is highly beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Create, release, and manage order waves aligned with production schedules and receive-by dates.
• Allocate orders and coordinate work release on the warehouse floor to balance labor and workflow.
• Optimize inbound and outbound dock operations to meet carrier turnaround standards.
• Monitor wave progress, manage aged waves, and resolve shortages or order completeness issues.
• Release work queues with a focus on productivity, interleaving, and operational efficiency.
• Provide clear operational updates on wave execution and order status.
• Oversee order cuts and support internal and customer communication when required.
• Generate labor and operational reports; review results with Supervisors and Operations Management.
• Conduct weekly priority reviews to minimize manual queue adjustments.
• Partner with Production Planning and Operations to optimize pick locations and system settings.
• Identify system issues and recommend process or system improvements.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and safety programs.
• Perform additional shipping, receiving, or planning duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume warehouse or distribution environment.
• Strong planning, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Detail-oriented, self-directed, and proactive.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact at all organizational levels.

Required Skills

• Production planning or wave planning experience.
• Experience using Blue Yonder or JDA WMS.
• Working knowledge of shipping and receiving operations.
• Experience reviewing labor or operational performance data.

Preferred Skills

• Direct impact on daily warehouse performance and customer satisfaction.
• Clear ownership of planning and execution, not just reporting.
• Night-shift schedule with shift differential.
• Strong partnership with Operations and Production Planning leadership.

Pay range and compensation package

Pay: ~$22.00/hour + $1.00 shift differential
