Hixwood Metal is the premier source for all your agricultural, pole barn, shed, building supply, coil, blank flat stock, and slit coil needs. We specialize in supplying the industry with products that are at the top of the spectrum. We have been proudly serving West Central Wisconsin with manufacturing quality building components since 1998.

Position Purpose: Create and manage production schedules, balancing resource capacity, customer orders, and deadlines to ensure efficient workflow and timely product delivery. Schedule each machine each day and know what each machine is running at all times.

Primary Role Expectations:

• Analyze machine and labor capacity constraints and recommend solutions to optimize resource utilization and maximize production throughout.

• Coordinate with the procurement and inventory teams to ensure the timely availability of raw materials (steel coils, etc.) to meet production needs, adjusting orders to minimize shortages or overages.

• Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules for each machine based on sales orders, inventory levels, and production capacity.

• Monitor production progress daily against the plan, identify bottlenecks or slippages, and make real-time adjustments to the schedule to mitigate disruptions and meet deadlines.

• Act as a central point of contact liaison between the production floor, customer service, sales, warehouse staff, purchasing, and dispatching, communicating needed schedule changes to ensure materials are available, verifying all work orders are completed, and ensuring all parties are informed of progress and issues.

• Close production work orders and make carton tags.

• Address production issues and setbacks by reallocating resources or expediting orders to maintain schedules and meet customer deadlines.

• Communicate with management and sales teams regarding production status, material inventory, potential issues, and any necessary adjustments.

• Maintain accurate production records, track key scheduling metrics (e.g., schedule adherence, lead times, throughput), and prepare reports for management review and analysis.

• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, analyzing historical data and production processes to identify trends and improve overall scheduling processes and increase production efficiency.

• Assists with inventory cycle counts, monitoring and managing stock levels, coordination with purchasing and the warehouse to resolve material shortages.

• Adhere to and promote all company health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures, ensuring safety protocols are considered during scheduling.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

• Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function.

• Proficiency with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and other scheduling software.

• Ability to handle simultaneous issues and tasks in a fast-paced environment.

• Clear and effective communication with internal and external customers.

• Strong ability to think critically and find solutions to unexpected challenges.

• Excellent organizational skills to manage deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.

• Ability to comprehend and use data from reports to make informed decisions.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED.

• Previous scheduling experience in a job shop environment is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift at least 35 lbs.

• Lifting anything >100 lbs requires additional personnel and utilizing a dolly or forklift if possible.

• Walking, standing, climbing, squatting, bending, lifting, kneeling, and ability to work long periods at a computer are all required physical aspects of the job.

Schedule:

• Present during current Hixwood hours, generally 6:30am – 4:30pm w/ some Saturday mornings
