Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

A mission-driven healthcare nonprofit in the Bronx seeking a compassionate Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centered care to adolescents and adults in an underserved community. The NP will work collaboratively with primary care providers and behavioral health staff, developing their own patient panel while supporting the overall mission of improving access to mental health services.

Patient Population

• Qualified to treat both adolescents and adults.
• Patients present with a wide range of psychiatric conditions, including mood disorders, anxiety, trauma-related conditions, and co-occurring health concerns.
• Many patients are part of diverse, underserved populations.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and create individualized treatment plans.
• Provide ongoing medication management, monitoring progress and outcomes.
• Collaborate with primary care providers, case managers, and behavioral health staff for integrated care.
• Educate patients and families on mental health conditions, treatment adherence, and wellness strategies.
• Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with clinic policies and state/federal regulations.
• Participate in interdisciplinary case reviews, quality improvement initiatives, and team meetings.
• Support program development efforts that align with the nonprofit’s mission and community needs.

Qualifications

• Active New York State Nurse Practitioner license with psychiatric certification (PMHNP-BC).
• At least 3 years of psychiatric experience preferred (community health or nonprofit experience a plus).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to connect with patients across diverse backgrounds.
• Passion for serving underserved populations with cultural humility and empathy.
