Location: 2420 Lake Ave, Ashtabula, OH 44004
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Night, 3 x 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Weekend Coverage: Every Other Weekend

 

Compensation for 36 hours: $2,500 Per Week

  • Weekly Gross: $2,500.00 Per Week
  • On W2(Taxable): $720.00 Per Week ($20/hour)
  • Stipend (Non-Taxable): $1,780.00 Per Week

Job Overview

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Med/Surg Telemetry unit at Ashtabula Regional Medical Center. This is a night shift role requiring minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Telemetry experience. The RN will care for patients in a 15-bed unit, managing complex telemetry monitoring and related patient care.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients in the Med/Surg Telemetry unit.
  • Monitor cardiac telemetry, interpret dysrhythmias, and respond appropriately.
  • Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care including PICC line management.
  • Manage respiratory support devices such as nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care.
  • Administer medications including heparin, insulin, and PCA as per protocols.
  • Assist with gastrointestinal care including feeding tube and colostomy management.
  • Provide genitourinary care including continuous bladder irrigation and hemodialysis support.
  • Participate in use of Rapid Response Teams and implement isolation precautions.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 18 months in Med/Surg Telemetry setting.
  • Current permanent Ohio RN license or compact license in hand at submission.
  • Active ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications (NIHSS must be obtained prior to start).
  • Experience with Epic charting system preferred and required.
  • Ability to float to other units as necessary.

Preferred Skills

  • IV therapy, phlebotomy, and access to ports.
  • Blood product administration and central line blood draws.
  • Chest tube management and respiratory device handling (CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC).
  • Dysrhythmia interpretation and telemetry monitoring (both on-unit and remote).
  • Wound care, including wound vac management.
  • Total joint replacement patient care and surgical drain management.

Work Environment

  • Patient Ratio: 1:5 (days, nights, weekends)
  • Unit beds: 15
  • Facility is tobacco-free and enforces strict drug screening policies.
